Institute's School Climate Consortium Offers Bullying Solutions to National Leaders

Bullying and harassment is an epidemic in US schools, victimizing nearly one out of three middle and high school students each year.

GenevieveArneDuncanWashington, DC, Friday, August 13, 2010— Bullying and harassment is an epidemic in US schools, victimizing nearly one out of three middle and high school students each year. For nearly 3 million high schoolers, that includes physical abuse by other students— tripping, pushing, spitting or worse. But the Institute for Advancing Unity, a Sacramento-based education organization, has helped some California schools make drastic reductions in harassment and disciplinary problems.

Welcome! The UNITY Lab is a catalyst for empowering people to be champions of unity in their lives, their communities, and the world.

The UNITY Lab facility is our learning and research center. Two blocks from the California state capitol in Sacramento, the three-story UNITY Lab is a hub for discovery, discussion, and dissemination of proven tools and new approaches that can be replicated to build UNITY in any community.

Challenge Day comes to Los Angeles

Challenge DayOn June 2, the Los Angeles area officially became part of The UNITY Lab's strategic growth effort. Time Warner Cable joined The UNITY Lab to bring inspirational programs to area schools. At Edison Middle School, 82 students participated in a series of activities designed to build connections and empathy among different individuals and groups of students.
