KorematsuTeachOn September 23, 2010 former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed the Fred Korematsu Day of Civil Liberties and the Constitution Bill to create a day to recognize Korematsu, who bravely resisted the incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II. The bill encourages schools across the state to teach Korematsu's story and its relationship to current civil rights issues on January 30 of every year.

To assist teachers, the Fred T. Korematsu Institute for Civil Rights and Education will distribute free curriculum kits featuring the Institute for Advancing Unity's video along with engaging lesson plans.
