Challenge Day

The Institute for Advancing Unity continues to address local students' needs by bringing the Challenge Day program to South Sacramento Schools as part of the Sacramento Building Healthy Communities initiative of The California Endowment.

Challenge Days are powerful, high-energy programs that address issues of violence, teasing, social oppression, racism, harassment, peer pressure, alcohol and drugs, suicide, and bullycide through a series of experiential learning processes that unite members of the school and community. The Institute invites local civic and business leaders to serve as volunteer facilitators alongside student mentors, teachers, administrators, and staff.

Facilitator participation strengthens student participation and helps identify students who may benefit from followup support. If you would like to volunteer as an Adult Facilitator for one of the dates below, contact Edith Crawford, our Director of Education and Evaluation, at (916) 286-3647 or edith@championsofunity.org.
