The son of Filipino immigrants, Laurence Tan was studying to be a doctor when the vision of becoming a teacher presented itself in a dream. Now a fifth-grade teacher in Watts, California, Laurence uses the tool of TEACH to inspire and educate students in an area where opportunities are slim.

Alex Epstein founded a volunteer organization during high school to help rebuild New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Aitan Grossman


From a young age, Aitan Grossman was concerned about the welfare of animals and other living things, from those he could see in his backyard to those whose natural habitats were threatened worldwide. Reading Vice President Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth,” at age 12, Aitan never recognized the myth that, “I couldn’t do anything just because I was a kid.”

Adarsha & Apoorva


Adarsha Shivakumar is a passionate environmental enthusiast, cofounder and Executive Director of Project Jatropha. Adarsha’s sister Apoorva is the cofounder, Financial Director, Fund Raising Coordinator, and Educator of Project Jatropha. Together, they use tool of TEACH to improve the planet and the lives of rural Indian farmers.
