Dennis H. Mangers is a Board Member and former Chair of the Institute for Advancing Unity. From 2008-2009 he served as Senior Advisor to Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg. Prior to that, Mr. Mangers was President of the California Cable and Telecommunications Association for more than 20 years. He is a recognized advocate and supporter of the Arts and served as President of the Sacramento Ballet Board of Directors during the 1990s.
From 1976 to 1980, Mr. Mangers served as Assemblymember for California's 73rd District, representing Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Seal Beach, and parts of Costa Mesa, Westminster, and Garden Grove. Also an educator, Mr. Mangers taught elementary school in Long Beach for four years before becoming California's youngest school principal at 28 years old.
Mr. Mangers earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Cal State Long Beach in 1964 and a Master of Science degree in Education Administration from the University of Southern California in 1968.
